President Trump Celebrates Christmas Tradition
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took part in a cherished holiday custom by answering calls from children nationwide, eagerly awaiting Santa Claus’ arrival.
As the North American Aerospace Defense Command monitored Santa Claus’ sleigh, the couple interacted with families through NORAD’s Santa Tracker hotline.
Sitting in elegantly decorated armchairs surrounded by Christmas ornaments, they asked children about their wishes for Santa and any questions they had.
Their conversations included light-hearted political jokes covering topics like immigration and the upcoming 2024 election.
When a caller from Oklahoma inquired about why Santa is being tracked, Mr. Trump responded, “We track Santa all over the world.” He added, “We want to make sure that he’s not infiltrated; we are not letting a bad Santa into our country. We found that Santa is good!”

The president expressed his fondness for Oklahoma, noting its support during the last presidential election. “Santa loves you. Santa loves Oklahoma like I do,” he remarked. “Oklahoma was very good to me in the election.”
During a call from Kansas, when asked about Christmas wishes, one child replied, “Um, not coal,” prompting Mr. Trump to reference his pro-fossil fuel stance. “Not coal? You mean clean, beautiful coal,” he joked.
While speaking to a child from Pennsylvania, Mr. Trump claimed three victories there despite only winning it twice in 2016 and 2020. “I know Pennsylvania is great. We won Pennsylvania three times,” he stated.
Beyond discussing Christmas wishes with kids, the president praised recent GDP figures to reporters present in the room. “Great numbers, great financials,” he said while acknowledging that kids might not be interested in such topics.
After completing six calls with children, President Trump expressed his enjoyment of the interactions but noted he needed to return to international matters. “This is fun, right?” he said between calls. “This is America.”
