Pro-life Pregnancy Centers Thrive Post-Dobbs

The nation’s pro-life pregnancy centers have experienced significant growth since the Supreme Court’s pivotal 2022 ruling that eliminated a nationwide right to abortion. These centers have expanded their patient base, services, and locations despite facing considerable opposition from Democratic lawmakers.

According to a report released by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, the number of new clients at these centers exceeded 1 million in 2024 for the first time, rising from 974,965 in 2022.

The total number of crisis pregnancy centers increased from 2,750 in 2022 to 2,775 in 2024. This includes both physical locations and mobile units across all 50 states.

“In terms of the pregnancy center movement, this is not just surviving post-Dobbs. These pregnancy centers are showing that families can thrive post-Dobbs,” stated Karen Czarnecki, executive director of Lozier. “Pregnancy centers are rooted in compassion, professionalism and hope.”

The rise of pro-life pregnancy centers comes despite strong political pushback. Senator Elizabeth Warren has spearheaded efforts to label these facilities as “fake clinics” spreading misinformation about abortion options.

The Lozier report coincides with a case currently before the Supreme Court regarding New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin’s investigation into First Choice Women’s Resource Centers. This Christian nonprofit operates five facilities and is contesting a subpoena demanding extensive information on its operations.

New Jersey issued a consumer alert warning that crisis pregnancy centers may attempt to prevent access to abortion care by providing misleading information about its safety and legality.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, remarked that this legal case highlights ongoing attacks against pregnancy centers since the Dobbs decision. She emphasized that these facilities have faced little support from law enforcement amidst aggressive opposition from Democrats aiming to shut them down.

The Supreme Court is set to hear oral arguments on December 2 regarding this matter.

The National Pregnancy Center Report indicated that pro-life pregnancy centers provided approximately $452 million worth of goods and services in 2024—up from $365 million in 2022—with many offerings available at no cost.

The value of material goods alone reached $116 million, marking a significant increase from previous years.
