Incident Overview

A federal agent collaborating with the Metropolitan Police Department discharged their weapon in Northeast Washington, D.C., following a car chase on Thursday. Fortunately, no individuals were injured during the incident.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., members of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force attempted to pull over a vehicle for a traffic violation at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue SE and Pennsylvania Avenue SE. The driver, however, fled the scene.

The pursuit continued for less than three miles, concluding in the 3400 block of Benning Road NE, where one federal agent involved in the chase opened fire.

No injuries were reported as a result of this action. The driver, whose identity has not been disclosed, was taken into custody by law enforcement officials.

The federal agent is affiliated with Homeland Security Investigations, as confirmed by police sources. Additionally, authorities stated that no officers from the Metropolitan Police Department discharged their weapons during this event.

The Internal Affairs Bureau is currently investigating the incident. Once their review is complete, it will be forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for further examination.
