Strongest Recruitment in 15 Years

The U.S. military has reported its best recruitment figures in 15 years for fiscal 2025, with all five branches surpassing their targets. Pentagon officials attribute this surge to the election of President Trump and the subsequent rollback of certain progressive policies.

  • The Army recruited 62,050 personnel against a goal of 61,000.
  • The Navy achieved 44,096 recruits compared to its target of 40,600.
  • Both the Air Force and Space Force also exceeded their recruitment goals.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell noted that the data from November, coinciding with Trump’s election and Secretary Hegseth’s confirmation, indicates a historic increase in recruitment numbers.

Undersecretary of War for Personnel and Readiness Anthony J. Tata emphasized that the administration’s focus on warfighting has contributed to this success. He stated, “We have a commander in chief and a secretary of war who are focused on our troops and our mission.”

Since taking office, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has eliminated initiatives related to diversity, equity, and inclusion while promoting a return to a traditional “warrior ethos.” Promotions and hiring within the military are now based solely on merit.

This uptick in recruitment comes as U.S. military operations expand in regions such as Syria, Somalia, and the Caribbean.
