President Signs Bill Requiring Release of Epstein Files

On Wednesday evening, President Trump enacted a new bill mandating the Justice Department to disclose all documents related to its investigation into the late Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking activities.

The House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the measure on Tuesday, followed swiftly by the Senate. The release of the Epstein files has become a contentious topic, with both Democrats and Republicans pointing fingers regarding their potential contents.

In his announcement about signing the bill, Mr. Trump continued to engage in partisan rhetoric. He stated on social media, “Democrats have used the ‘Epstein’ issue, which affects them far more than the Republican Party, in order to try and distract from our amazing victories.”

The newly signed legislation requires that all information pertaining to Epstein be made public within 30 days, including details surrounding his death in 2019 while incarcerated.

In his post, Trump called out several Democrats linked to Epstein, such as former President Bill Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. He remarked, “Perhaps the truth about these Democrats and their associations with Jeffrey Epstein will soon be revealed.”

This signing marks a significant change for Trump, who had previously insisted that these files should remain confidential until just days ago. He noted that he had requested House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune to facilitate the bill’s passage.

The president has acknowledged past connections with Epstein but claims they fell out over time. He has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that no known victims have accused him of sexual misconduct.
