Trump’s Reaction to the Report

President Trump expressed strong disapproval of a recent article that scrutinized his age and schedule at the White House, labeling it a “hit piece.”

The article published by a major news outlet on Tuesday discussed how Mr. Trump’s age has influenced his second term compared to his first.

“The creeps at the failing newspaper are at it again,” Mr. Trump stated on Wednesday, shifting focus to his anticipated 2024 election victory and highlighting his administration’s achievements.

“Despite all this, the radical left lunatics in the soon-to-fold paper produced a hit piece suggesting I am losing my energy, contrary to evidence showing otherwise,” he added.

The report indicated that Mr. Trump, who is 79 years old, has been less visible during this administration than in his previous term, with fewer public events scheduled. It noted that he has also traveled domestically less frequently than last term but acknowledged numerous foreign trips he has undertaken.

The article pointed out that he maintains a shorter public schedule now, with most appearances occurring between noon and 5 p.m.

An event in October concerning drug prices was highlighted where the president appeared to be dozing off while seated.

Mr. Trump dismissed these claims outright. He referred to the publication as a “cheap rag” and criticized reporter Katie Rogers for allegedly only writing negative stories about him. “I have my highest poll numbers ever,” he asserted, emphasizing ongoing investments in America.

The president did concede that “there will be a day when I run low on energy; it happens to everyone.” However, he concluded confidently with remarks about having recently passed both a physical exam and cognitive test with flying colors.

A spokesperson for the publication defended its reporting as accurate and based on firsthand accounts. They emphasized that personal attacks do not alter factual reporting and affirmed their commitment to covering this administration fairly despite any intimidation tactics.

The president has consistently claimed he possesses more energy than “Sleepy Joe Biden,” referring to his predecessor who left office at 82 years old. He often criticized Mr. Biden’s mental fitness and joked about administrative decisions being made without direct input from him.

This past month, questions arose regarding an MRI scan received by Mr. Trump; however, officials maintained it was part of routine health checks. This visit marked his second medical appointment this year after undergoing a complete physical examination in April—a somewhat unusual occurrence given typically only one annual exam is standard for presidents.
