Trump’s Ongoing Greenland Campaign
President Trump continues to keep the public guessing about his intentions concerning Greenland.
“You’ll find out,” he remarked to reporters.
European leaders are expressing strong opposition to his plans for acquiring the Arctic island.
The president claims that Greenland is vital for U.S. security and intends to discuss this matter during meetings at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week.
Recently, he indicated that following his Nobel Prize snub, he no longer feels obligated to prioritize peace, telling the Norwegian prime minister that his focus is solely on American interests.
Mr. Trump expressed on Tuesday that he has “lost a lot of respect for Norway” due to last year’s peace prize snub, as the Nordic country’s Nobel Committee selects its awardees.
Furthermore, Mr. Trump accused European leaders like British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron of being hypocritical regarding their support for him while criticizing his stance on Greenland.
“I think I get along very well with them. When I’m around them, they treat me very nicely,” he stated.
The president also mentioned that he would consider other tariffs if the Supreme Court rules against the primary tariff authorities he’s currently using to exert pressure on Europe over Greenland.
