Trump’s Return and Interest in Meeting
Upon returning to Washington from Palm Beach on Sunday night, President Trump indicated his desire to connect with Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, who had recently shown interest in a meeting.
Trump stated, The Mayor of New York would like to meet with us, and we’ll work something out. He emphasized that Mamdani wishes to come to Washington for discussions aimed at ensuring positive outcomes for New York.
In the lead-up to Election Day, Trump had criticized Mamdani’s campaign, labeling him a communist, while endorsing former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the final days of the race.
The president urged voters to support Cuomo regardless of personal feelings, asserting that Mamdani is not capable.
Trump also raised concerns about Mamdani’s relationship with Jewish residents in New York City. He warned that supporting Mamdani would be unwise for Jewish voters.
If elected and uncooperative with Trump’s administration, he cautioned that federal funding for New York City could be significantly reduced. Trump stated, If Communist Candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the Election for Mayor of New York City…
After winning the mayoral race, Mamdani rallied his supporters and responded directly to Trump’s comments. He declared, If there is any way to terrify a despot…
Mamdani concluded his remarks by addressing Trump directly: I have four words for you. Turn the volume up.
The new mayor-elect vowed to hold landlords accountable and combat corruption that has allowed wealthy individuals like Trump to evade taxes. He promised his administration would support labor rights and protect working people from exploitation.
