Trump’s Rally in North Carolina
During a recent rally in North Carolina, President Trump emphasized his administration’s efforts to alleviate economic struggles attributed to Democratic policies. He touted lower drug prices and pledged to challenge insurance companies.
“In the past 11 months, we have brought more positive change to Washington than any administration in American history,” Trump declared on Friday at the Rocky Mount event. He criticized previous politicians for prioritizing insiders and foreign interests over American citizens.
The president highlighted significant drops in prices, including those of essential medications. Earlier that day, he met with executives from nine pharmaceutical companies at the White House to discuss these reductions.
“Your drugs are coming down at levels that nobody ever thought was possible. This achievement alone should win us the midterms,” he stated, introducing TrumpRx, a forthcoming platform for affordable medication purchases.
Looking ahead, Trump expressed intentions to confront health insurance companies directly, referring to them as “fat cats.” He plans to arrange meetings with industry leaders during the holiday season either at his Mar-a-Lago estate or back in Washington.
The president criticized the Affordable Care Act (ACA), labeling it the “Unaffordable Care Act,” and advocated for direct financial support to citizens for purchasing their own healthcare options. He warned of potential government shutdowns over healthcare funding disputes with Democrats.
Trump also took aim at Georgia GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, using a derogatory nickname and suggesting her departure from Congress was due to his lack of communication. Additionally, he addressed fraud allegations involving Somali residents in Minnesota and criticized Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The president praised job growth in North Carolina and noted improvements since Hurricane Helene devastated the area last year. He claimed credit for aiding recovery efforts without Democratic assistance.
Trump discussed tariffs imposed to protect local industries such as furniture manufacturing from international competition, particularly from China. He reminisced about his past experiences sourcing furniture in North Carolina.
This rally is part of Trump’s campaign strategy leading up to the 2026 midterm elections, focusing on economic issues as counterpoints to Democratic narratives about affordability challenges. His previous rally occurred in Pennsylvania just a week earlier.
A recent NBC News poll indicated that 42% of voters view the economy negatively, while an AP-NORC survey revealed only 31% approval for Trump’s economic management—a decline from earlier this year.
