Trump’s Reaction to New Epstein Files
Former President Donald Trump expressed strong opposition to the recent announcement regarding the release of more documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. The Justice Department revealed that it had discovered additional files but would require several weeks to make them public.
In a social media post on Friday, Trump stated, “Now 1,000,000 more pages on Epstein are found. DOJ is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired hoax. When do they say NO MORE and work on election fraud etc.?”
He further claimed, “The Dems are the ones who worked with Epstein, not the Republicans. Release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our country! The Radical Left doesn’t want people talking about Trump & Republican success; only a long-ago Jeffrey Epstein — just another witch hunt!”
Last month, Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law, which mandated that the Justice Department release all documents related to Epstein by December 19. However, officials have since indicated that they need more time to thoroughly review the materials before releasing them.
The latest document release did not satisfy lawmakers and victims advocating for transparency; many files were heavily redacted and lacked references to Trump himself.
This week alone saw nearly 30,000 pages concerning the Epstein case made available after criticism over missed deadlines for document releases. On Wednesday, authorities from the Southern District of New York and the FBI informed that an additional million documents potentially linked to Epstein had been uncovered.
The Justice Department stated that it has lawyers working diligently to review these documents and ensure necessary redactions are made for victim protection. They anticipate that this process may take several more weeks due to the volume of material involved.
