Sergio Gor sworn in as ambassador

Sergio Gor officially took the oath of office on Monday, becoming the U.S. ambassador to India and special envoy for South and Central Asia.

Prior to the ceremony, President Trump expressed confidence in Mr. Gor’s abilities, stating that he would excel in his role and make both the country and his supporters proud.

The president emphasized the significance of this position, highlighting India’s crucial role as an economic and strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region.

“He’ll be a key emissary to a very important group of nations at the crossroads between East and West,” Mr. Trump remarked. “It’s a very important relationship.”

Mr. Gor’s appointment comes amid tensions between India and the U.S., particularly regarding tariffs imposed by Mr. Trump and pressure on India to cease oil purchases from Russia.

Previously, Mr. Gor served as head of presidential personnel appointments during the Trump administration. He co-founded Winning Team Publishing with Donald Trump Jr. and managed a super PAC supporting Trump’s 2024 campaign.

After being sworn in by Vice President JD Vance, Mr. Gor expressed gratitude to President Trump for this opportunity.

“This is an honor of a lifetime,” he stated. “I look forward to strengthening the ties between our two nations and am committed to fulfilling my duties effectively.”
