Tragic Incident In Minneapolis
Renee Nicole Good, a resident of Minneapolis, was fatally shot by a federal agent on Wednesday. Reports indicate that she was involved with an anti-ICE coalition aimed at documenting and resisting immigration enforcement in Minnesota.
Ms. Good became affiliated with a group known as “ICE Watch,” which is described as a network of activists focused on disrupting ICE raids in the sanctuary city. Her connection to this organization began through her son’s school.
She enrolled her son at Southside Family Charter School, an institution committed to social justice education. The school’s mission emphasizes providing an academically rigorous and socially aware curriculum.
Multiple sources have reported that Ms. Good received training on how to interact with ICE officers during enforcement actions. A woman named Leesa shared at a vigil for Ms. Good that she had been instructed on how to respond to commands and understand her rights when encountering ICE agents.
A newly released video from the perspective of the involved ICE officer captures moments leading up to the shooting, showing Ms. Good’s wife, Rebecca Brown Good, just before the tragic event.
In the footage, Rebecca can be heard telling the officer filming their vehicle, “You want to come at us? You want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy.” As the officer approaches their SUV, Renee briefly reverses before moving forward while Rebecca urges her to drive away.
The situation escalated when an ICE officer attempted to open the driver’s door of their vehicle. The camera then shifts away just before authorities claim that the officer was struck by the SUV, followed by gunfire.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled the shooting as an “act of domestic terrorism,” accusing Renee Good of obstructing and confronting ICE officers throughout that day. President Trump referred to her as a “professional agitator,” while her mother expressed disbelief over these characterizations, stating that Renee would never engage in such activities.
Immediately following the incident, Rebecca Good was seen visibly distressed. She lamented her role in bringing Renee into harm’s way: “I made her come down here; it’s my fault,” she said tearfully. “They shot her in the head. I have a 6-year-old in school.”
