Instagram’s New Office Policy

Employees of Instagram, a subsidiary of Meta, who have designated desks are now required to return to the office full-time.

This change was communicated in a memo from Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, who expressed his belief that creativity and collaboration flourish when teams work together in person. He noted this sentiment both pre-COVID and during visits to the New York office, where he observed a strong in-person culture.

According to reports, starting February 2, those with assigned desks at various U.S. offices must be present five days a week.

Not all Instagram employees will be impacted by this policy shift. Remote workers are exempt from returning, and employees at the New York office will not transition back to full-time due to space limitations.

Meanwhile, Instagram staff in Menlo Park, California, will relocate to a new building on January 26 to ensure that everyone has an assigned workspace.

Mosseri mentioned that those wishing to commute to San Francisco can transfer to that office if they prefer.

This requirement for five days in-office applies solely to Instagram. Other Meta platforms such as Facebook and Threads will continue with their hybrid model established in 2023, which allows three days in the office each week.
