House Republicans Promote Their Accomplishments
House Republicans are showcasing their legislative successes this year, which include preventing significant tax increases and enhancing border security funding. These achievements will form the basis of their campaign in the upcoming midterm elections.
According to House Speaker Mike Johnson, this record of accomplishments was achieved with a narrow Republican majority in the House.
Johnson’s office recently shared a fact sheet stating that House Republicans, alongside President Trump, have pushed forward one of the most ambitious Republican agendas in recent history, despite having one of the smallest majorities in modern times.
The unified agenda aimed to benefit American families by implementing lower taxes, enhancing border security, promoting American energy independence, reforming permits, strengthening national defense, and improving government efficiency.
This year, the House passed 441 bills and codified 70 executive orders from Trump. Additionally, they adopted 23 resolutions under the Congressional Review Act, with 16 being signed into law. The Rescissions Act of 2025 also rescinded approximately $9 billion.
The Republicans celebrated the passage of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which halted what they termed as the largest tax increase in U.S. history while expanding tax breaks for tips, overtime pay, and certain Social Security benefits.
They also increased funding for border security and continued support for border wall construction.
In contrast, House Democrats are likely to campaign against Trump’s extensive tax cuts and spending measures. They have labeled it as the “big ugly bill,” arguing that it does not serve America’s middle class.
Pete Aguilar, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus stated before the bill’s passage: “This bill isn’t for the American people — it’s a reward to mega-rich campaign donors who fund Republican campaigns.”
The House also advanced public safety legislation such as the Laken Riley Act—mandating detention without bail for non-citizens committing specific crimes—and the HALT Fentanyl Act that permanently classifies fentanyl as a Schedule I drug. Additionally, they passed the TAKE IT DOWN Act to safeguard minors from deepfakes online.
The GOP addressed healthcare affordability concerns as additional Obamacare subsidies are set to expire at year-end. A proposed bill aims to provide more options for health insurance shoppers while saving taxpayers nearly $36 billion over ten years and reducing premiums by an estimated 11%.
