Unexpected Guests at AmericaFest
Tens of thousands of conservatives gathered for Turning Point Action’s AmericaFest on Sunday, where they were treated to a surprise phone call from former President Donald Trump and an appearance by rapper Nicki Minaj.
The event, held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Arizona, concluded a four-day conference that featured notable speakers including Vice President J.D. Vance and Donald Trump Jr.
During his speech, Donald Trump Jr. connected his father via phone. The former president, speaking from Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, expressed his desire to be present and promised he would join them soon.
“I just want to say that nobody did more for me than Charlie [Kirk],” Trump stated. He commended the activists for their efforts in door-knocking and voter turnout as they prepare for the 2024 election.
In a light-hearted moment, he joked about possibly firing his son if he didn’t perform well during his speech: “I hope my son is doing a good job representing me. Otherwise I’ll have to say, ‘You’re fired, Don.’”
The second surprise came when Mrs. Kirk introduced Nicki Minaj on stage for an interview. Mrs. Kirk noted how her late husband always ensured there was a special surprise at every AmericaFest.
Minaj has been outspoken in her support for Trump and shared some of her recent social media posts criticizing California Governor Gavin Newsom with the audience.
The rapper expressed her admiration for Trump, stating he has given many people hope amidst challenges: “He’s shown how you can come back from the worst times in your life.” She described the current administration as filled with individuals who possess heart and soul.
Minaj emphasized that both Trump and Vance are relatable figures who connect with people across various backgrounds: “They’re still connected to the world… They make us feel proud to be American.”
When asked about facing backlash in the entertainment industry due to her political views, Minaj responded nonchalantly: “I didn’t notice,” smirking as she spoke.
