Nick Reiner’s Arrest
Nick Reiner is currently in custody at the Los Angeles County jail following the tragic deaths of his parents, renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele. The couple was found dead in their Brentwood home on Sunday.
According to jail records, Nick, 32, is being held on a bail amount of $4 million. He was taken into custody after police discovered the bodies at approximately 3:40 p.m. local time. Reports indicate that both parents suffered fatal stab wounds.
L.A. Police Chief Jim McDonnell confirmed that Nick has been booked for murder; however, formal charges have yet to be announced by the district attorney’s office. McDonnell emphasized the importance of gathering evidence for a potential prosecution.
Rob Reiner, aged 78, gained fame as an actor in the iconic sitcom “All in the Family” before transitioning to directing beloved films such as “This is Spinal Tap,” “The Princess Bride,” and “When Harry Met Sally…” He was also known as the son of Carl Reiner, a legendary figure in comedy.
Michele Singer Reiner, 70, was recognized for her work as a photographer.
In past interviews, Nick has openly discussed his battles with drug addiction and periods of homelessness. In a 2016 conversation with People magazine, he reflected on how close he came to death during those times.
Nick collaborated with his father on a film titled “Being Charlie,” which draws from his own experiences. Rob expressed that working together helped him understand Nick better and hoped it improved their relationship.
The deaths have sparked varied reactions from political figures. While former President Barack Obama expressed sorrow over their passing and praised Rob’s contributions to film and society, President Trump took a different approach by attributing their deaths to political criticism directed at him over the years.
