Trump’s Year in Review
A year into his second term, President Trump remains unyielding in his desire to confront adversaries, using a recent White House news conference to voice strong criticisms against various opponents.
During the event, he labeled the prosecutors who pursued him during his previous term as “sick” and accused California Governor Gavin Newsom of mismanaging the state.
He also criticized Leonard Leo, a former conservative ally, calling him a “bad guy” for supporting legal challenges against Trump’s extensive use of tariffs.
The president expressed particular disdain for Representative Ilhan Omar and other Somali migrants in Minnesota. “I can’t stand her,” he remarked about Omar, referring to her as a “crooked congressman” and complaining that she attempts to dictate how the country should be run.
Regarding the Somali community, he described their homeland as “the worst country in the world,” stating that it is plagued by violence and piracy.

The press conference was intended to mark one year of Trump’s current administration but evolved into an extensive review lasting over an hour. When asked if God would be proud of his actions over the past year, Trump readily agreed, asserting that many people appreciate his efforts.
The president proclaimed this past year as an unprecedented success while claiming he deserves recognition such as the Nobel Peace Prize. He reflected on achievements related to the economy, national security, and domestic policy changes.

While much of Trump’s commentary targeted political foes, he did express admiration for some individuals. He commended Lee Zeldin, head of the Environmental Protection Agency, for effectively reducing permitting times.
Additionally, he offered condolences to Renee Good’s family after her tragic death during an encounter with immigration officers in Minneapolis. He acknowledged it was a difficult situation but noted that her family were devoted supporters of him.
Most notably, Trump directed harsh words towards former special counsel Jack Smith and New York Attorney General Letitia James. He referred to Smith as “a sick son of a bitch” due to criminal indictments against him—both cases were dismissed after Trump’s reelection victory. He also criticized James for pursuing civil fraud allegations against him and called out other legal adversaries by name.
The president celebrated what he viewed as a successful transition from President Biden’s administration. He claimed Biden would have “destroyed” the country within a year if given more time in office.
