Delia Pruitte, 37, who teaches at Rippon Middle School, was taken into custody on Monday by the Prince William County Police Department. She faces a charge of assault and battery.

The police report states that during a conversation with an 11-year-old boy on December 17, Pruitte removed her shoe and threw it at him, resulting in a minor injury to his hand.

The incident was captured on surveillance footage, as confirmed by Prince William County Police Lieutenant Jonathan Perok. The identity of the student involved has not been disclosed. Following her arrest, Pruitte was released on a court summons with a pending court date.

In response to the incident, Prince William County Public Schools announced that Pruitte has been placed on administrative leave. Rippon Middle School Principal Kristan Donahue emphasized their commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment for all students in a letter addressed to families.
