Businessman Brian Stover Launches Campaign

The Republican businessman, Brian Stover, is vying for the congressional seat currently held by the resigning Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene. In his inaugural advertisement, he draws a parallel between himself and former President Donald Trump.

In the ad released on Thursday, Stover states, “Like President Trump, I’m a businessman, not a politician. And like him, I have the same mission: To take out the trash.”

He further emphasizes his commitment to supporting Trump’s agenda by declaring, “I’m running for Congress to help President Trump. I’ll bring our values to D.C., defend ICE agents that keep us safe, and fight tooth and nail to bring costs down.”

The advertisement concludes with a narrator describing Stover as a “Christian, conservative, pro-Trump Republican and trash destroyer.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her resignation from Congress in November. She stated she would serve until January before stepping down.

In an extensive video shared on social media, she explained her decision was influenced by her fallout with Trump.

Greene expressed concern for her district’s well-being amidst potential primary challenges from Trump supporters. She stated,“I love my family way too much… I refuse to be a battered wife hoping it all goes away and gets better.”

Trump had previously indicated he would support Greene’s opponent if she chose to run again. He noted that many conservatives were considering challenging her due to dissatisfaction with her actions.

A special election will be called by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp within ten days of Greene’s resignation. Her final day in office is set for January 5.

A number of Republicans have shown interest in filling the vacant seat, including Jim Tully, who has previously worked with Greene as chairman of the 14th District Republican Party. State Senator Colton Moore and former FEMA official Star Black are also contenders.

A Democrat has entered the race as well—retired Brigadier General Shawn Harris, who is also a farmer.

The district leans heavily Republican; thus, whoever secures the GOP primary is likely to have an advantage in the general election.
