Investigation into Missing Coach

A high school football coach from Virginia, Travis Turner, remains unaccounted for over a month after he disappeared during a walk in the Appalachian forest. He is wanted on charges related to child pornography.

Turner’s family noted that he often took walks in the woods, but on November 20, he left without his wallet, keys, glasses, or necessary medication, taking only a firearm with him.

After his family reported him missing, Virginia State Police revealed that the 46-year-old was wanted for soliciting a minor online. Despite extensive searches involving rescue teams, dogs, and drones near his home in Wise County, no signs of him have been found.

The investigation remains active with support from the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Turner’s whereabouts to come forward. A reward of $5,000 has been offered for relevant tips.

Adrian Collins, an attorney for Turner’s family, stated that they have fully cooperated with law enforcement throughout the search process. The family has allowed multiple searches of their home and properties as they seek answers.

Collins emphasized that Leslie Turner did not assist her husband in evading justice since charges were filed only after he had been missing for nearly a week. In a heartfelt statement on behalf of the family, Collins urged Travis to return home and face the allegations against him.

At the time of his disappearance, Turner was employed as a physical education teacher at Union High School and was leading an undefeated football season. Following his absence, Wise County Public Schools placed him on administrative leave and prohibited him from school grounds or contact with students.

The school’s football team continued to compete after Turner’s disappearance and reached the semifinals for Virginia’s Class 2 state title but suffered a narrow defeat on December 6. Interim head coach Jay Edwards expressed pride in the team’s efforts despite their loss.
