Ukrainian President’s Upcoming Meeting

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he will be meeting with President Trump this weekend in Florida, aiming to find a resolution to the ongoing conflict with Russia that has persisted for four years.

Zelenskyy shared on social media, “We are not losing a single day. We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level — with President Trump in the near future.” The White House has been contacted for confirmation regarding this meeting.

The Ukrainian leader indicated that he and Trump will discuss an “economic agreement” and security guarantees for Ukraine, alongside addressing various territorial issues during their Sunday conversation.

Zelenskyy mentioned that a 20-point peace plan is nearing completion, stating it is “about 90% ready.” He expressed his desire for European involvement in future discussions with the U.S., emphasizing the need for a format that includes both Ukraine and Europe.

His remarks followed a productive conversation he had with special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law. Zelenskyy stated, “We are truly working 24/7 to bring closer the end of this brutal Russian war against Ukraine… Real security, real recovery, and real peace are what all of us need — Ukraine, the United States, Europe, and every partner who helps us.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that there have been ongoing communications with U.S. representatives since last week’s meeting between Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev and an American team. Peskov noted that it was agreed to continue dialogue.

Trump has been advocating for an end to the war since before his election; however, progress has been slow throughout this year. In late November, he remarked that “tremendous progress” had been made. He expressed hope about meeting both Zelenskyy and President Vladimir Putin soon but emphasized that such meetings should only occur when a deal to end the war is finalized or close to finalization.
