Lamborghini’s Role in Opioid Awareness

In a unique collaboration, police in a New Jersey town have teamed up with a Lamborghini dealership to promote opioid treatment and support. The initiative features department decals on a Lamborghini, complete with a QR code that directs individuals to vital resources.

The Garfield Police Department, located 18 miles northwest of New York City, is spearheading the “Outrun Opioids” campaign in partnership with Lamborghini Paramus. A striking 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has been adorned with decals that include the QR code and the logo of Garfield High School’s sports teams.

The QR code links to services provided by the Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources, offering immediate assistance for those seeking help with opioid-related issues. According to the police department, they do not own the vehicle nor did they incur any costs for the decals.

“This initiative comes at no cost to the taxpayers of the City of Garfield,” stated the Garfield Police Department. “While we would certainly welcome a vehicle of this caliber in our fleet, its cost — $309,895 — is far beyond our current budget. The vehicle remains the property of Lamborghini Paramus, which has generously agreed to provide it for community events as needed.”

The decorated Lamborghini made its debut at a toy drive in Closter, just 14 miles from Garfield. It will continue to appear at various community events through June.

Garfield Mayor Everett Garnto Jr. expressed his support on Facebook: “Using a vehicle of this visibility to shine a light on opioid prevention and directly connecting people to immediate help through a live 24/7 navigator is a powerful example of thinking outside the box to save lives.”
