Trump’s Call for Arrests

President Trump has demanded the arrest of several Democratic lawmakers who released a video encouraging U.S. military personnel to disobey orders.

In a post on social media, he labeled their actions as seditious behavior at the highest level, asserting that each of these individuals should be arrested and put on trial. He emphasized, “Their words cannot be allowed to stand — We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”

Trump further described the video as “really bad and dangerous to our Country,” questioning whether such seditious behavior from traitors should lead to imprisonment.

The video, titled “Don’t Give Up the Ship,” features Senator Elissa Slotkin from Michigan alongside Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona and Representatives Maggie Goodlander, Jason Crow, Chris DeLuzio, and Chrissy Houlahan. All participants have military or intelligence backgrounds.

In their message, they stated, “Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders… You must refuse illegal orders.”

Senator Chris Coons of Delaware condemned Trump’s remarks as chilling behavior, likening it to tactics used by authoritarian leaders like Vladimir Putin and Viktor Orban. He asserted that service members take an oath to uphold the Constitution and should never be pressured into executing illegal commands.

The lawmakers expressed concern that trust in the military is jeopardized by the Trump administration’s actions, which they claim are creating divisions between uniformed services and American citizens. They reminded viewers that threats to the Constitution can arise not only from external forces but also from within.
