ADL Launches Initiative to Monitor Mayor-Elect Mamdani’s Administration

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has initiated a comprehensive program aimed at tracking the policies and appointments of Mayor-elect Zorhan Mamdani’s upcoming administration. This effort is designed to safeguard Jewish residents across New York City’s five boroughs.

The initiatives include an antisemitism tipline, proactive research into Mr. Mamdani’s policies that may impact Jewish community interests, and a dedicated monitor to oversee his administration’s actions and appointments that could negatively affect the Jewish population.

Mr. Mamdani, who will be the first Muslim mayor of New York City, has faced accusations of antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiments. He maintains that his political stance against Israel is not racially motivated.

The ADL has expressed that the city is experiencing a period of “unprecedented antisemitism.” Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO and National Director of the ADL, stated, “Mayor-elect Mamdani has promoted antisemitic narratives and associated with individuals known for their history of antisemitism.”

Greenblatt emphasized the importance of holding Mr. Mamdani accountable as he leads a city with one of the largest Jewish populations globally. He urged the mayor-elect to unequivocally oppose antisemitism in all its forms and support all constituents equally.
