Introduction of Devante Smith-Pelly as Analyst

Former Washington Capitals winger Devante Smith-Pelly has announced his new role as a studio analyst for the NHL Network, with his first appearance scheduled for this week on the show “NHL Tonight.”

Smith-Pelly made a significant impact during his time with the Capitals, notably scoring in each of the final three games of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. His contributions helped Washington secure its first-ever championship, with captain Alex Ovechkin also scoring three goals in that series.

The Canadian player retired from the NHL in 2019 after an eight-season career, including two seasons with Washington. Over his tenure, he played 395 games across four teams, tallying 44 goals and 57 assists. Following his departure from North American hockey, he briefly played for Kunlun Redstar in Russia’s KHL. Aside from broadcasting, Smith-Pelly has made occasional appearances on podcasts such as “Tales from the Warehouse.”

Expressing enthusiasm about his new role, Smith-Pelly stated, “Players often turn to NHL Network during their careers to stay updated on league news. Now, having this opportunity to share my insights and experiences with fans worldwide is incredibly exciting.”
